Common questions about diabetic-style sock manufacturing.
What construction features define a diabetic-style sock?
Diabetic-style socks are defined by their construction: a non-binding, loose comfort top that doesn't dig into the leg, a seamless hand-linked toe to avoid pressure points, a smooth cushioned sole, and a wider, gentle fit. We knit them in soft, moisture-wicking yarns such as extra-soft combed cotton, bamboo viscose, or soft acrylic blends, and can add a flat, low-friction interior. These are comfort and construction features, specified to your tech pack.
What's the difference between a diabetic-style sock and a regular sock?
Construction. A diabetic-style sock uses a non-binding top that won't dig into the leg, a seamless toe to remove pressure points, a smooth cushioned sole, and a wider, gentle fit, usually in soft, moisture-wicking yarn. A regular sock prioritizes look and a snug fit. A diabetic-style sock prioritizes a soft, low-pressure, stay-dry feel across the whole foot. We build either to your spec.
Can you add non-slip grip soles to diabetic-style socks?
Yes. Non-slip silicone grip on the sole is a popular option for home, hospital, and senior care lines. Grip can be applied as a dot pattern, full-sole coverage, or a logo shape, and pairs well with the cushioned, non-binding construction these socks use.
What yarns do you use for diabetic-style comfort socks?
Soft, breathable, moisture-wicking yarns: extra-soft combed cotton, bamboo viscose, and soft acrylic blends, with elastane for a gentle stretch fit. Bamboo and certain synthetic yarns are naturally moisture-wicking, which keeps the foot dry. Antimicrobial-treated yarn is available on request and specified as a yarn property. Every blend is documented by exact composition for clean labelling.
What's the minimum order and lead time?
Minimum is 50 pairs per design and size. Standard lead time is 4 to 6 weeks from approved sample to delivery, with sampling adding 1 to 2 weeks at the start. Multi-size ranges are welcome, and each size just needs to meet the 50 pair minimum per design.
